Last Saturday night we were very pleasantly surprised by the wonderful time our family had at the Jerusalem restaurant. Service: EXCEPTIONAL. In fact, likely the best service we've ever experienced, anywhere. I only regret I didn't get our server's name so I could mention her here. Food: Fresh and Delicious. What more do you want? Atmosphere: The buffet area is VERY cramped, but the seating area was just fine. We were comfortable. Entertainment: The belly dancer was lovely and outgoing, we had so much fun!! The whole crowd got into it, with some people getting up and shakin' it with her. Our 14 year old son, who couldn't wipe that smile off his face all night, especially seemed to enjoy the experience. ;) All in all, we were extremely happy with our night out. The wine was very good, the prices reasonable, the service fantastic, the food plentiful and delicious. We will be back, probably soon!
My friends and I have gathered at Jerusalem restaurant (old and current north York locations) on a monthly basis for 15yrs. Unfortunately, we have now decided to 'give up the ghost' and commute for better food/ambience at various restaurants downtown. The food is definitely authentic, but it is always stale. We truly believe that we Arabs only go there, because there are no other large Middle Eastern restaurants in the area to compete, and the owners definitely seem to count on that fact. The ambience has deteriorated over the years and is now at rock bottom. It has become an inside joke in our group that, we men leave our expensive watches in the car and our female friends wear their evil eye charm bracelets to ward off the eyes from the female staff members. They all seem to be on an embarrassing, gold-digging hunt for rich husbands there and my gorgeous female cousins don't want to get up from the table and use the washroom because all the girls working there start whispering. It is an extremely uncomfortable atmosphere. Our theory is that this behavior is either, actively encouraged, or the very least, definitely tolerated, by the owners (a father and son - we know this, because they make sure everybody knows this! Lol) the father is rude to the point of needing etiquette lessons and the son seems to be a flashy playboy who has hit on every one of my cousins - another reason they do not like walking to the washroom. It is an extremely sleazy atmosphere. We can only imagine what it is like at dinnertime when the alcohol starts flowing. We have only ever been there for weekend lunches!
Dreadful. The ersatz middle eastern appearance put me off, but I was still optimistic...you never know where you will find good food. Regrettably, good food was nowhere to be found. Neither were the waitstaff. The food took forever, was barely lukewarm on arrival, and was bland or tasted downright bad. Coupled with a belly dancer that had no business belly dancing, it was a really lousy dining experience. I'd never to back.
This restaurant offered a unique menu with a good variety of dishes. We had the buffet dinner which was a bit pricey but tasty.
