I am and east indian and have eaten at many different places during my lifetime and I have to say that for the price and the quantity - the freshness and quality of the food is disgraceful! Only half of the dishes we ordered were probably made to order. The other half tasted like they were made a day or two before and just reheated and served to us -- really bad! The clumsy/ill-mannered waiter made several mistakes with our party's order and didn't bring out the dishes in a timely or orderly fashion. The cleanliness of the prmises were sub-standard and I would never ever retun for another meal -- no matter how hungry I was for Indian food -
I am surprised to read some of these reviews. I've only ever been for lunch and must be at least 10 times now, never have I had a bad food experience. Granted some days you get more friendly service than other days, but usually the waiter that doesn't speak fluent english is the one that isn't as friendly. I'm sure it's not intentional. We've never been disappointed and the food has always been fresh and very tasteful. I've been to quite a few Indian food restaurants but this is defnitely at the top of my list!
I took second chance but very bad experience again. I don;t understand why people not polite and serve good food
I heard from friends about this restaurant and wanted to try. We were extremely dissappointed with the service. The host ( Sardarji) was very rude. He said that the waiting period was 15min - 30min. We were waiting while other customers were coming in and adding their names to the waiting list. The host was ignoring us and taking other groups to the tables who came after us and had no reservation. He was extremely impolite and when we asked him about a place to sit , he put us at a table by ourselves in a seperate room. How insulting! I wish nobody faces this kind of humiliation. This restaurant is not at all upto the standard of India hospitality. We have been in this country for 50 yrs and had never had this kind of attitude from any other restaurant in Toronto or North America.
I've been to this restaurant three times in the past four years. Every time something has gone wrong. I'm generally a forgiving person and understand that mistakes can happen once or twice, but not three times in a row was too much even for me so the last time I went was the final time I go. First time my food arrived late and the chicken was uncooked and the waiter gave me the dirtiest look when I pointed at the curried chicken and showed the 'easily visible to the eye' uncooked portions. What's worse is that he took the plate and instead of brining a brand new dish cooked from scrach he brought the one I had sent back. I could tell it was the same because I saw the pieces of chicen I had cut and my bite marks were apparent on one as well. No, I did not get a discount on my meal at the end of the day. Infact all I got was a dull and dry "sorry" with a smirk. Second time I went there the service was even worse. The waiter did not ask us if we would like to start off with drinks after seating and dissapeared for 10 minutes. Upon return he only asked me what I wanted to drink and not my girlfriend. She had a glass of water, but that does not mean she is not going to have anything else to drink (i.e. anything alcoholic). I asked him about several dishes and their contents and flavours and he could not even describe their contents to me. The best I got was "It's a chicken dish"... I knew it's a chicken dish, I can read english, infact I'm Indian and can understand from the Hindi title of the dish that it contains chicken but is it tangy, sweet, creamy, paste curry or dry etc. Anyway, after getting the food I realized my naans were completely burned from one end and they were purposely stacked so that it looked normal (i could only see the good side until i picked it up)... Third time I only went there because I was extremely hungry and at 9pm on a Saturday night everything else was on a waiting line for at least an hour so I ended up here. Both the experiences I had previously applied to this time as well but this one tops it all because I had to wait, get ready for this, one and a half hours to get my order on the table. At that point I was furious and politely asked the waiter to give me the bill because it was already 10:30pm and the food was still not on the table. I was so furious at that moment I put $80 on the table and walked out with my girlfriend without waiting any longer for the food. Did I mention that prices are ridiculous for the quantity and quality of the food? I travel overseas often (Europe, Asia, America's) and this is easily the worst Indian restaurant I have ever been to. And like I said before, the review is based on three separate visits, not a single bad experience which I find can just be 'one of those days'.
