We visited for Sunday lunch. The lunch specials were the same high prices as the regular menu. I ordered a beef brisket grilled cheese sandwich. The taste was good but the piece of meat was so tiny on the already small sandwich. For $12.99 it did not fill me up. The service was adequate with plenty of drink refills and a reasonable wait for the meal. The outside decor looks a bit run down, but the inside is a normal Kelsey's. There are more interesting restaurants at this price level.
Kelsey's is everything I hate in a restaurant. It is filled with frozen foods, miserable staff, and a total lack of passion. Kelsey's offers nothing to differentiate itself from hundreds of chains serving 'american' food. Personally I opted to try their wings on my last visit, I was cautiously hopeful since they seemed to have some good options for sauce. I tried three different ones and honestly ... had trouble telling them apart, I began to wonder if I was actually given three and it turns out I was only given two. The rest of the food was bland, there really wasn't anything you could say about it. It was hot and quick atleast, our server was nice enough. For the price, there are many many options other than Kelsey's, don't waste your time.
Order 16 wings (mild) - received 13 and asked server for help - was sent an additional 3 wings (extra hot) from the kitchen even after the server confirmed the order was for "mild". Asked for the manager who simply said she was sorry for the discomfort! Also stating the restaurant was very busy, despite a number of empty tables. She simply could not have cared less and said 'people are human beings and make mistakes' - I indicated my intention to complain to HQ whereupon she said 'I'll be looking forward to your comments'. Others in the party received meals that were either cold or unworthy of consumption. This restaurant should avoided - it is not the place it was a few years ago.
I used to like Kelsey's a lot, but now that I have become familiar with their food and services, I really don't have a lot of praise for the place. Firstly, I'll tackle the services. They are always good, so no complaints there. Always friendly, attentive, etc. They always have a lot of staff here so you'll never be ignored. ONe time I ordered a burger and it came to the table raw and I was comped my meal plus a beer. The food is fast food to the next level. You can tell it is just all frozen, and cooked upon people ordering. Even the steaks and lobster are frozen. I always get onion rings because they are great here and some of the best around. Wings are good too, but at $16.00 for all you can eat, why would you even bother? That is the price of two pounds and that is about all I can eat anyway, so it is not like they are offering a deal really. I like the peppercorn burger, but that has now been changed, and I no longer care for it. Prices at Kelsey's are absolutely insane. $7.00 pints of Canadian with over priced mediocre food. A beer and a meal for two people usually run over $50.00. I can go to a higher quality establishment for less money..and in the future I will.
Walked in on a Saturday lunch, restaurant was almost empty. The lighting seemed really dark for a lunch too. Service was not the best: not sure if our waiter was new or not, but he wasn't the most polite server we've ever had nor did he seem to know what he was doing. Food took a while; one party member wanted to leave because it was taking so long. The upside, however, was that the food was delicious. If you want some good food in an average atmosphere with below average service, give this restaurant a shot.
