Papagayo Restaurant welcomes you to their establishment. They are open after-hours all week and are accessible by public transit and car. Come visit them in a surrounding recognized as exciting.
Great restaurant. Staff are friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Great menu - especially excellent are the calamari (usually an appetizer special) and the enchilada platter.
The food is 'experimental' Mexican fare. The margarita is quite disappointing--you can taste artificial lime flavor and it's too weak. The food itself is not what I'd call authentic by any means. As a native Californian, I found the restaurant very disappointing. There were not many vegetarian options and they're portions of guacamole are extremely small. On the plus side, the atmosphere of the restaurant is cheery, and the decor pleasant to the eye.
I have eaten here many times, often for lunch. When they have grilled calamari, get it. One of the best places that make calamari the way it should be done. Also their refried beans that come with most of the entrees are always great. My fav. dish is the chicken with mole sause and their homeade cheese cakes are to die for (must try both the chocolate chill and the tequila line everytime).
