You know - Ive heard a lot about this place - but I had to see and try it for myself. A steak for 12 bucks - I was expecting Irish shoeleather but was quite surprised by a NY strip that was spiced and tender!! I heard the service was slow - but I could understand - every table in the place was full of beers - the 2 poor bartenders - were constantly pouring pints! So I rest assured my draft is fresh!! and I dont mind waiting for that perfect pour.

I have to say that this is the best...

I have to say that this is the best pub/restaurant in downtown Guelph for my age group; my wife and I have now become regulars. It is also a place you feel comfortable to bring children in the day, as proper Irish pub should be. It is the only place I know of that you can order a properly cooked steak for under $15, not to mention the superb whiskey peppercorn sauce. The lamb stew, although a little shy in portion, had a wonderful taste. The service has been prompt, informative and friendly each time we have eaten there. I will definitely go back to this place over and over and tell my friends to do the same. BTW, nice touch of traditional Irish music in the washrooms.

The aesthetic of this bar is a great addition to Macdonell streetscape. Much effort has been put into this business. They keep their kitchen open quite late and are extremely hospitable to guests. Their beautiful back bar offers more domestic and imported libations than one could possibly expect. Food, drink, atmposphere-all were fantastic!

I decided to go Mexican with Fajitas and Nachos but stuck to my Irish roots with the Harp. The Nachos were better then average and the fajitas were really good - especially for $12 (everywhere else charges $16-17) Slainte Bobby!

The interior of this pub is very elegant for a pub, being new helps it I'm sure but the old brickwork being exposed looks great. Also being able to see the kegs is very neat. Service was prompt and the atmosphere is a middle ground between sports bar and Irish pub. Bobby's has a great selection of food and specials throughout the week that are affordable and delicious although the portion size does have much to be desired. The steak was cooked to perfection and the Black corn pepper sauce on the steak sandwiches was great. A good pub when its not swamped with customers which shows its popularity. Looking forward to my next pint there.
