BETTER than in MEXICO! And I would know :)

I have to start by saying I've been to Mexico several times, and never have I had Mexican food this good. From the moment you are greeted, to the time your get your delicious combo platter (which I HIGHLY recommend), you will feel a sense of authentic mexican atmosphere and cuisine. The margaritas are to die for and the nachos will give you a reason to keep coming back, time and time again. This restaurant has flourished and the reason for it being GREAT food, and GREAT staff. La Mexicanada truely is a gem in a small town of big name restaurants that have come and gone. It wouldn't have made it to the Toronto Star if it wasn't worth the drive ;) Don't believe the bad reviews, just get in the car and VAMOS A LA MEXICANADA!!! Thank you LA MEXICANADA for bringing a country I love so much, so close to home :)

Best Mexican Food in GTA

We have been going to La Mexicanada for 6 years now, the food & atmosphere is great, Noe and the rest of the staff are always friendly, eager and courteous. The margaritas are made with freshly squeezed limes and are FANTASTIC also try a mexican beer TECATE is also a favorite of mine. We usually start with nachos and quacamole my son and I usually have the platter for two, upsize it if your big eaters or just really hungry. My wife and daughter love the flautas and enchilladas, we always save a little room for churros for dessert. We LOVE this place and go often to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries, we bring friends and relatives and everyone has loved it. Check it out!!! But make a reservation if going on the weekend!

My husband and I and MANY of our friends LOVE LOVE LOVE La Mexicanada! My husband and I order take out often and we love to enjoy a night out at La Mexicanada when ever there is a good excuse...and the food, the margarita's, the atmosphere, and the staff are all wonderful. We have introduced some of our friends from 2 hours away from Bradford and now they will come up to Bradford JUST to eat at La Mexicanada. With our group of friends...we have made it tradition to celebrate at La Mexicanada. My favourite dish is the Tostada's and I LOVE the gaucamole. However, if you aren't sure what to eat you can always have a platter for 1 so you can try four wonderful dishes. These include a tostada, a soft taco, a borrito, and a quesedilla (sorry about the spelling errors). You can choose to have any of these with pork, chicken, beef or vegetarian and you can have them mild, medium, or spicy. I personally love these dishes with chicken and extra spicy with extra quacamole. I also LOVE the strawberry margarita's, my husband LOVES the regular lime margarita's. If you are looking to enjoy some fabulous authentic Mexican food, a great atmosphere with some fun entertainment...then you HAVE to visit La Mexicanda, you will become addicted. When I was pregnant not too long ago, I had to have La Mexicanada food AND often, my dad would tease me and say that our baby was going to come out wearing a sumbrero! A word of advice...if you plan on dining at La Mexicanada make sure you call to make a reservation the tables fill up fast!!

The absolute best Mexican

We have been going to La Mexicanada for about six years now and absolutely love it. We go to Mexico every year for vacation and would crave the Mexican spirit and cuisine when not on vacation and La Mexicanada really hits the spot. From the quirky authentic decor, the amazing staff, great drinks and lively music to all the D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S food, we just can't get enough!! We live in Toronto and are more than pleased that everyone we recommend it to has already heard of it or been there and loved it. Not only is it a great place for Canadians who want a little piece of Mexico but also the Mexican migrant workers always turn to the owners and staff with their needs whether they be culinary or personal. Love, love, love, love my La Mexicanada! Salud

Don't believe the hype

Authentic? No. Fresh? No. Worth the journey? Oh no. We all want to believe in the mythology around this place: humbly created to satisfy the yearning of migrant Mexican workers for food from their homeland. Trouble is, you will not find a Mexican or Latin patron anywhere here (excluding staff). Frankly, I’ve tasted better Mexican food – fresh, flavourful and rustic - at non-Mexican restaurants in the GTA. Maybe this should be the best Mexican food in the city, but it isn’t. If you’re enticed by the Toronto Star articles then by all means take a trip up the 400 but don’t be disappointed when you arrive - or when you leave. You were warned. I’ve purposely eaten here on different days and at various times, on 3 occasions over the last 12 months. The staff attempts to be hospitable but their enthusiasm starts to grate as the half-melted margaritas disappoint and the food – well it just takes so long to arrive. I appreciate that the kitchen is the size of a master bath and that several of the main courses are prepared “from scratch” (How else would they be?), but a 43 minute wait for a plate of enchiladas is excessive at any time or place. The space itself looks like a Mexican-themed children’s birthday party and the heavy scent of refried oil will live in your clothing for days. What’s more, the majority of local clientele have nothing to compare the fare to, and subsequently filter into this place like lambs. Stuck in the 4’ by 4’ vestibule where we stood for 18 minutes without so much as an acknowledgement, (reservations don’t matter here) I heard a first-time guest say to his friend: “This is the best Mexican food in the city.” Who says? At best, this is the food you are served at truck stops fringing the Mexican/American border – complete with squeeze bottle cheese, warm, store-bought sangria and guacamole that tastes like baby food. Don’t believe the hype.
