For anyone who likes to shop local while still getting well-made, fashionable clothing, Bowmanville’s Jake’s Clothing and Heritage Boutique may just be the place for you. Jake’s Clothing originally started as a spinoff of Cactus Clothing Company, another locally owned clothing store in Bowmanville, as a means of stocking clothes that didn’t fit with the other store’s vibe and styles.
Both stores carry a wide variety of clothing and brand names, all dependent on customer demand, but they also take pride in stocking Canadian brands. “We really try to encourage shopping locally,” says district manager and buyer Brittney Boone. “We try to suggest local stores for our customers, and we think we should do our part by buying from Canadian companies as much as we can.”
