Little Bangkok took over the Spiago restaurant in the Glenwoods mall in the corner across from Scotia Bank in Keswick. What a great spot! ... the atmosphere is nice and the staff are very attentive. The food was delicious and served hot. We all ordered dishes and then shared. The waitress was very helpful in choosing what to order and what food complimented other dishes. I have to admit that I am a bit biased because I live within walking distance of this venue. That aside, I can't image that I am going to properly capture the true atmosphere, ambiance and sincere love that this place has and regularly does generate for me on every visit. I have been going to the Corner House with my wife for about 4 years now. The mood of the place has changed a bit over that time, but for those who don't live within walking distance, let me assure you that the drive to the nether regions of Keswick proper are well worth it. What it is: A classic small family restaurant that serves impeccably designed food at a reasonable price. It is a local staple, a place where regulars who enjoy high quality cuisine go to enjoy the ideas and execution of the house chefs on a monthly and even weekly basis. Picture the best restaurant in Toronto without the attitude, drama and aloof wait staff. You’re getting close, but it still doesn’t capture it. What it is Not: A stuffy, snooty high class eatery where you have to look down your nose at the wait staff, owners and fellow guests. This is a place of food and friendship. If you are not prepared to get a hug when you enter and a hug when you leave, go somewhere else. This restaurant is not for the shy or faint of heart. It is for those that are willing to declare their love of great food; great wine and excellent company and live the experience out loud. You will get out of the Corner House what you put into it. It is the best of both worlds. World class fine dining by the beautify Lake Simcoe, and a venue small and intimate enough to attract the likes of Bob De Niro on a regular basis. My girlfriend and I went up to tobermory ontario a few weeks ago. I have never had such amazing customer service in my entire life. Our server was super kind, funny and made lots of jokes to keep us entertained through our meal. I went in a short while ago, and fell in love. The service is something very special. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. As for the food. I had chicken coconut soup, followed by Scallops and risotto. It was one of the top 3 meals I've ever experienced. The burgers at BBJ are delicious. Made with fresh, local ingredients, cooked to order. You can upgrade to premium toppings like goat cheese and portobello mushrooms, melts in your mouth. The portions are huge definitely a man sized burger. Fries and onion rings too. I have never seen such huge onion rings before. Beer battered and fantastic. Price, very reasonable for the sizes you get. I think it was $4.50 a burger to make it a combo it was $6.50. I can't say enough good things about Fishbone Bistro. Warm ambiance, comfortable seating, and the service made us feel like we were the only table in the room (although the restaurant was fairly full). We had a flaming sausage to start - delicious. The specials were incredible. I ordered a dish that I can't remember the name of, but it was similar to a light seafood stew in an herb broth. Delicious, perfectly cooked food and the flavour was out of this world. Highly recommended! My husband had the whole sea bass. The owner, Pedro, deboned the fish at the table and explained some things about Portuguese cuisine. My son had the steak, and the presentation was like nothing I had seen before! I've been telling everyone I know to check this place out. We didn't have time to try dessert (an excuse to go back)! Hearty portions, excellent wine, beautiful decor.... you have to try it! Decent for a pub. Service isn't the best but the BLT chicken wrap that i always order never disappoints. The greek salad is also great. I would not reccommend sitting inside, the patio is the place to be. I go for lunch at the arms at least once a week, I'll continue to as long as the BLT wrap remains delicious! Read more
