Having spent many forgettable hours in the old Pacific when it was a straight bar with a pool table, I was intrigued to see what the new owners had done especially as being from Jamaica, they have introduced some staples from The Islands into their menu. Pool table long gone and nicely laid out tables with linen napkins (!!), fresh dark paint greeted us. Orville, the owner's son welcomed us and his evident enthusiasm for the jerk chicken roti convinced my friend (who generally is a very fussy and unadventurous eater) and I to try that. It comes with choice of salad or soup of the day which on this Saturday night was curried pea (chick peas). The soup was excellent: thick, creamy, flavourful with just enough curry to satisfy and not spicy hot at all but warming as soup should be. Jodi took over and brought our roti which was full of flavour, once again mild in heat but you can have (as I did) a side bowl with some wickedy hot Jamaican sauce. The shredded chicken/potato combination was wrapped in a phyllo pastry adding richness to the warm mouthfeel of the dish. It and the soup was a really full meal. After-dinner coffee was very, very strong. Extremely friendly service and the tasty entrees make this a delightful addition in a veritable wasteland for well-prepared, good food. I would rate this restaurant as the best on the Peninsula; admittedly we haven't visited them all but we've been to many of them. My wife and Iive 30km away in Lion's Head and we love to go down for lunch. I usually get either the wings or the Hot Turkey, but my wife gets different things. Great place to eat. Interesting and varied new menu items highlight a new season in this well-established eatery. The three-course Friday night special I had was truly wonderful, exciting, flavourful food. A mesclum mix was restrained by slices of cucumber, sliced lengthwise and curved to form a holder for the leaves, the whole drizzled with a piquant apple-based vinagrette. The pork tenderloin entree was three large pieces stuffed with a savoury dressing that was so tasty and plentiful that while I finished the pork, I took the rest of the stuffing home. Dessert was a chocolate/caramel custard in a crunchy pastry shell, topped with fresh strawberries and blackberries. Portion size gave good value for the price which was reasonable for the quality. Presentation throughout was as artistic as any classy place in Toronto but the outstanding things about the meal, to my mind, were the number of homemade items (dressing, stuffing, pudding, pastry) and the commitment to flavour everywhere. The Best Western Governor's Inn says classy from the moment you pull in the driveway and the lobby and professional staff continues this feeling. From a beautiful lobby to a restaurant/lounge that has the rich, comfortable feel of fine leather (although for the record there was no leather).Our server was attentive, polite and quite pleasant and although it was obvious that she was pushing the buffet there was no problems when I ordered off of the menu. This place gets a perfect 10 when it comes to atmosphere. I ordered the Governor's Chicken Schnitzel with mashed potatoes and the garden mix. The chicken schnitzel was prepared quite to my liking, cooked to perfection, moist on the inside and the breading was wonderfully crunchy and seasoned perfectly. The mashed potatoes were quite good, fluffy and smooth, and clearly not instant (a pet-peeve of mine is instant potatoes). The garden mix consisted of broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, green and red pepper slices and was steamed to perfection. I rate this meal a 9 out of 10, nearly flawless. Overall this restaurant gets 9.5 out of 10 and will say that I will defiantly be eating there again. Read more

We've been to many 5 star restaurants in downtown Toronto and we would take the Log Cabin over any of them. The chef is a master of Soups and presentation. This place is an authentic Irish pub. Certainly a great place to order food and have a few pints in Port Credit. I've been coming here for years. In the last year they updated their menu. They have a killer openfaced steak sandwich with brie cheese. It's seriously to die for. Also their house salad dressings are pretty good as well. Wish they carried a few more local beers on their draft list, but you will not be disappointed with the selection. Also, great Halloween party every year. Read more

The Mohawk Chop House has only been open for a month and already I have returned twice. By far, the best burger I have ever had and the steak is awesome. The service is as good as any and I love the cowhide decore. Read more
