Here's the interesting offer proposed by several great Montreal restaurants as part of Montreal en Lumiere: kids 16 and under eat gourmet fare for the price of their age. Although sadly not for the older crowd, it does mean that your 6-year-old enjoys a gourmet meal for, yes, $6! So, during spring break (from February 29 to March 5, 2016), treat your kids to a veritable gourmet feast. Here are the participating restaurants.
Bring your little darlings out to discover the new dishes at Accords, located in the Place des Spectacles, and have them try the veal tenderloin, risotto or Arctic char. Finish with a chocolate-blueberry cake that will fill their tummies to give them enough energy for the rest of the day. The wine list will reward the parents.
This restaurant on Peel Street awaits you and your little ones with a menu that includes fish n' chips, boudin noir (black pudding), grilled salmon, flank steak or the fish of the day. Plenty for kids to enjoy, and the choice is theirs!
This is an opportunity to introduce your heirs to the joys of well-prepared tartare. Beaver Hall, which is part of the small Européa "empire", offers beef or salmon and avocado tartare that will make your mouth water. You can also create your own risotto! Parents will be happy to note that for spring, they are offering a table d'hôte for $20 (chicken wings or soup, followed by a parmesan risotto or salt cod confit, and a dessert).
The inn on the street of the same name awaits you for a meal spent in a relaxed atmosphere. There’s a midday chalkboard menu and in the evening, you can enjoy a braised veal cheek, the fish of the day, a beef fillet, a Swiss fondue, leg of lamb, a filet mignon of pork or organic piglet from the Beaurivage farm. Save room for the chocolate and pumpkin cake!
If you're in the Griffintown area, stop in at Le Richmond and take a lunch break by enjoying a fried Cornish hen, Carponata rigatoni (with eggplant, zucchini, tomatoes, onions, pine nuts, and raisins) or a small filet of beef shoulder.
At Laloux, on Pine Avenue, ecology and local products are brought together. Bring your offspring to taste the tarte flambée (flame-grilled tart somewhat resembling pizza of Alsatian origin), mackerel fillet, beef flank steak (from the Eumatimi farm), without forgetting, of course, the profiteroles with caramel!
Would you like to help your child discover Greek food, or to try it again? A visit to Ikanos should do the trick! Here, parents can get a three-course menu for $48 and children 16 and under also ... paying their age. For the main course, they will choose between fish ravioli, grilled shrimp and grilled octopus or duck breast, saddle of rabbit, and short rib ravioli.
This go-to place on De La Montagne offers its Menu Découverte (Discovery menu) for 40$ (per adult) and your kid eats free if he or she is 12 or under. They may thus choose between items including lobster soup and lemon squid, and then between risotto, sea bass, beef striploin and other delights.
