Grumman 78 has been earning a reputation as quite the trail-blazer in the Montreal street food game, offering both a restaurant in Saint-Henri and a highly successful taco-yielding food truck. “This is chef’s food. Traditionally street food tries to please everyone. We’re going for something much more creative and original,” explains co-owner Gaëlle Cerf.
Formerly the manager at Pied de Cochon, Gaëlle has over 20 years’ experience in the restaurant industry. “I wanted to do something different to traditional food,” she says. Her vision became a reality in 2010 when she teamed up with Marc-André Leclerc and Hilary McGown, who were working on the food truck’s design. "We immediately hit it off," says Gaëlle.
Marc-André and Hilary began to toy with the idea of owning a taco truck after a trip to Mexico, where they fell in love with the concept of upscale street food.

No, Grumman isn't just a street truck – even if it is one of the most popular to roam the city. The Verdun restaurant awaits you with an utterly decadent mac and cheese dish containing order and chaos in equal measure: macaroni (moo!), poblano pepper, buttermilk, Velveeta cheese, cheddar, Monterey Jack , Mozzarella, nutmeg, smoked gouda, tomatoes, and lots and lots of love.

Step into this boisterous “garage” of sorts for some tacos made with carefully sourced ingredients such as their prime steak taco, pulled pork banh mi taco or – our favorite – the divine lamb curry taco. Be sure to catch this Montreal street food pioneer outdoors come festival season!
