Montreal is known for being a place where a lot of people smoke, but if you walk around these city streets, it won’t be long until you see a lot of people puffing on electronic cigarettes. It’s a relatively new technology that has been exploding in popularity as many tobacco smokers are using the devices to wean themselves off their destructive habit.
That’s why Mario Tenuta opened G2K Vape with his family. They opened their first store at the corner Saint-Laurent and Jean Talon in April 2014 and in October, 2014 opened two more locations; one on Saint-Laurent closer to downtown, and another in Montreal’s Saint-Leonard borough.
“It's a good business, and it’s a good substitute for cigarettes,” Mario says. “We like to take people off smoking because vaping is a much better alternative. After people vape for one or two months, they realize the advantage. I would say about 80 per cent of the people who try it succeed. It's a really high rate.”
