Chocolats Andrée has been churning out authentic hand-dipped chocolates in Montreal’s Mile End neighbourhood since 1940. Even though that was a long time ago, they still produce the exact same things now as they did back then. Stephanie Saint-Denis is the third generation owner of the chocolatier shop and she is delighted to follow in the family tradition.
Chocolats Andrée was opened by her grandmother and great aunt, and her mother took over in the '80s. Stephanie, who grew up in the store and fondly remembers doing homework in the back office when she was a student, took over in 2008 allowing her mother to retire.
“My background is in accounting so I’m more involved with the day-to-day business side of things like suppliers, customers, marketing, and inventory management,” Stephanie says. “Of course, I need to know the recipes and tricks of the trade, but I leave that to the experts we have on hand.”
The best trufffles maybe on the planet ? Why ? The chocolate bursts with chocolate flavor . And more than anything else , they are light and delicate. They are not as heavy and dense as many other truffle versions. If you like cherry chocolates , they are among the best bar none. The pralines and the rest are also great quality and the prices are competitive. And less expensive than many other chocolate places which charge so much. AND THRY MAKE THEM ON SITE. you can taste the difference!
