On Promenade Ontario, a legendary hideout for those with a sweet tooth has been in operation since 1929. The Hochelaga institution, Biscuiterie Oscar, has successfully weathered the passing of decades to provide members of the community, young and old alike, with their sugar fix. “The smell that greets you when you walk in is impossible to ignore,” says Julien Simard, the store’s manager, and the son of the current proprietor. “Prepare to find a lot of candy items that you thought had long disappeared from the market. It’s a nice, but tantalizing atmosphere. We sell candy, not vice!”
The Biscuiterie offers candy, cookies and many other treats in bulk. It also prepares gift baskets for corporate giving, in addition to running a delivery service by phone and online.
