Maurice Cody Child Care (The Centre) is a non-profit organization, serving the families of Maurice Cody Public School. The Centre was incorporated in July 1996 after an amalgamation of two existing child care centres operating in Maurice Cody Public School. The earliest of these was established in September 1979 by parents working with the Toronto Board of Education to provide a program of lunch and after-school care for sixteen Grade School children. A before-school morning program was added the following year and by 1988 the Maurice Cody Lunch and After School Program ('MCLASP') had expanded to serve forty-five children in grades one to four. To accomodate the increasing need for care for older school age children, in September 1994, the capacity was extended to sixty from grades two to six. Again the program was expanded by six children in September 2008.more...See more text
