There’s so much richness in Italian cuisine, a restaurateur could be forgiven for trying to serve it all. Mike Colombaro, however, decided to focus the cuisine of Gamerboni Restaurant exclusively on Italian seafood. Since opening his restaurant in 1986, Mike has perfected his signature dish: Casseruola di mare (casserole of the sea). “You get the different shellfish,” he explains, “and a tomato sauce, basil, olive oil…and the pasta, it’s made with the same sauce as the fish.”
If that’s not enough to lure you in, Gamerboni’s calamari and scallops will. Each dish is cooked with the finest attention to detail by an Italian-born chef, making diners feel like they’re vacationing along the Adriatic Coast. And if you get to chatting with Mike, he’ll let you in on his personal recommendations. “My favourite dish right now is called the linguine Gamberoni,” he shares. “It’s garlic linguine with just scallops over pasta, with garlic, olive oil, a touch of chilli.”

We go to Gamberoni a few times a year and it's always an amazing experience. Minestrone is the best in town and the seafood platter for two is just perfect - two kinds of fish, shrimp cooked two ways and the best calamari I've ever had. If you want something really special after dessert, ask Mike (the owner) for "his" coffee - it's espresso with some alcohol in it, not sure what kind, but just the perfect end for a perfect night out.
Such a great little place! My boyfriend and I eat out often and this is always a top pick when we're feeling like some good italian! Absolutely recommended!
I love this place. I've been here several times and have not once been disappointed. The portobello carpaccio is delicious and the veal limone is to die for. I love love love Gamberoni. If you're looking for a true Italian experience and authentic food, this is your place.
Good Resatuarant, and will suggest all to visit here at least once. Made new friends and after googling the restaurant i felt its my way to say thank you for my experience. The whole family are good people and they make you feel at home. Ate like a true Italian and lemme tell you coming from NYC i know my Italian food. Thank you guys my new spot grazie tanto.
on what was the last good day to golf it was my turn to treat the boys to dinner. ive heared great things about gamberonis so was just up yonge street decided to give it a try. they were busy on a tuesday night and i mean busy we had to wait in line for a short 5mins so i advise to make reservations. our server one of the sons new we were hungry and suggested an antipasto platter containing of a marinated seafood salad, grilled vegs, italian cold cuts marinated vegs and the best olives ive had in a while. he also suggested the wine of the week which he mentioned was great value. after a good start i told him to bring something out for us family style so we can all pick from. he brought out osso buko a veal shank stew which was so tender and tasty along with home made ravioli stuffed with squash in a rose sauce. we ate like kings. after a couple of great espressos i asked for the bill and since i didnt order anything was expecting a monster but was very impressed on how reasonable the bill was i mean a couple weeks before i spent double with the guys and wasnt satisfied as we were at gamberonis so i recommend gamberonis for a great meal. we had a soprano experience with the checkered table cloths the family speaking italian the four guys are entertainers all of them came to the table and laughed with us real movie experience without the movie tab. AMAZING!
just moved to Toronto a few weeks back, girlfriend took me to Gamberoni told me it would remind me of home. I actually got to speak italian. Girlfriend took me to a couple places on College supposedly little Italy. Made new friends and after googling the restaurant i felt its my way to say thank you for my experience. The whole family are good people and they make you feel at home. Ate like a true Italian and lemme tell you coming from NYC i know my Italian food. Thank you guys my new spot grazie tanto.
I go to Gamberoni now and again. . The food is fantastic and I never order from the menu. The secret is to ask owner Nick what to eat on that occasion. He always makes a good recommendation such as their best-in-the-city veals. A great place to go for a lazy meal
I go to Gamberoni all the time. I take my family, clients and friends. I could eat all of my meals there and wouldn't get tired of it, but I might put on weight if I did. The food is fantastic and I never order from the menu. The secret is to ask owner Nick what to eat on that occasion. He always makes a good recommendation such as sauteed garlic lobster, Adriatic sea bass or their best-in-the-city veals. Their wines aren't too shabby either. They have a lovely Sauvignon Blanc. And if you're a football (soccer) fan, owner Nick supports AC Milan and brother Mike Inter Milan. It is quite funny when they argue with each other about football. All in all, the best restaurant in TO!
This is without a doubt the best "local" restaurant at which I've eaten. The friendly owners and staff combined with great, consistent, yummy food make Gamberoni's the place for a really comfortable, guaranteed enjoyable dinner. Nothing too fancy....just really good food and really good service.
JUST MOVED IN AROUND THE CORNER WHEN EARLY ONE MORNING I PASSED BY THE RESTAURANT AND SMELLED THIS WONDERFUL AROMA. I WALKED IN INTRODUCED MYSELF AND MADE A RESERVATION FOR LATER ON THAT EVENING. ATTENDED WITH MY WIFE AND WE LOVED IT. WARM AND COZY IT FELT AS IF WE TOOK A TWO HOUR VACATION TO ROME. WELL DESERVED MEAL AFTER THE MOVING, GREAT PEOPLE, FAMILY OWNED WHICH I LOVE AND GLAD TO HAVE OUR OWN LITTLE LOCAL PLACE A FEW STEPS AWAY. I WOULD RECCOMEND IT TO EVERYONE. WHEN THE WAITER COMES AND ASKS YOU IF YOU WOULD LIKE BRUSCHETTA TO START WITH SAY YES BECUASE ITS THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE.
Delicious food, friendly and knowledgeable staff, family owned wonderful atmosphere felt rite at home very homey feel. Went on recommendation by a friend who lives nearby and swears by the place. Saw dishes coming out to other tables very big portions but plates always came back clean. Cannot wait to go back.
i would like to start with saying that i have written a few reviews now on this site and this is the first time i have given a perfect score. The atmosphere is very rustic and homey, the garlic smell makes you hungry no need for an aperitif. One of the owners sits you down and then what appears to be his son comes and greets you with a smile along with menus and wine list. Great bottle of chianti off the menu but very reasonable at 36$ then after trusting him on the wine the whole meal was ordered by the waiter and he did not disappoint. Amazing dinner, enjoyed the ambiance, the music was great the feel in the room was great. Enjoyed the meal a true italian experience.
wonderful aromas, my first time and definitely not the last. Best italian meal i've had in a very very long time. Very friendly staff and great service. I felt as if i was dining in italy. Very reasonable prices and atmosphere was perfect i think i even saw tie domi come in and pick up food.
I lunch and dine at Gamberoni all the time. When asked, I tell people that I could have every meal there and never get tired of the food. They always have new dishes, the two owners and their staff are very friendly and the service is superb. It's simply one of the best restaurants in Toronto and not too pricey.
What a lovely neighbourhood Italian restaurant. Small and cozy with great service. Lots on menu to choose from, plus extras on the chalk board, and pasta was cooked to perfection.
