I have taken a special interest in Somatic Therapy, which adopts a unique view of the factors that generate stress, as well as the factors that need to be present in one’s life in order to decrease, manage, and relieve stress.
My approach is to focus on the underlying painful emotions that often result in symptoms of anxiety, defence responses, and repetitive patterns. Feeling those emotions fully will tell the nervous system that it no longer needs to signal the alarm bells in the brain. As a result, people tend to be calmer and more collected in otherwise triggering situations.
