Meet the owner

Stepping through the doors of A Changing Nest feels like walking into a neighbour’s home. A wood-burning fireplace in the centre of the store creates a feeling of warmth while the mix of vintage and modern furnishings and décor accents give the place a sense of history, while still being on trend. “I grew up in a home like this,” says owner Diana Ross. “My mom was British and our house was very eclectic,” she says.

As a young girl, Diana didn’t appreciate her mother’s unique style. “I wanted to be like all of my friends. I wanted to go to the store and buy that couch with the matching love seat and the matching end tables and the matching lamps,” she recalls.

Years later, Diana recognized the wisdom of her mother’s design style. “Most retail environments were a little boring for me. I’d walk in, I’d walk out and nothing really captured me,” she says. Only when Diana stumbled across an interesting, vintage piece would she get excited. “It’s those unique finds people notice when they come into your home,” she says. Diana opened A Changing Nest in 2011 to both fulfill a personal desire to be surrounded by beautiful things and to connect others in the community with unique treasures for their homes.
