The food was amazing as usual the only thing that was disappointing is when our table asked for extra bread they said they have a new policy that they have to charge $0.50 for each bun they bring to the table after the initial bread. And they leave it up to the poor waitresses to tell the table that I think they should have a note in their menu. Or maybe start asking customers if they actually want the bread before they bring it to the table.
The food was amazingly tasty. Decor and atmosphere were nice. Staff was friendly but not as attentive as they could have been. Prices were fair. I'm coming back on my next trip!
Had diner at Giovanni's twice in the last 2 months. Neither meal was very good. The last time I was there I ordered the special on the recommendation of our server. It turned out to be chicken drenched in butter. It was really awful. I had to used bread to soak up the butter in order to be able to eat my diner. This restaurant is not as good as it use to be and I won't be going back there again. Yuk!
i remember giovanni's as a place for families to gather, especially when you were in the mood for a wholesome italian feast. though we dont visit very often, maybe once or twice a year, and usually for birthdays, anniversaries or other celebrations, we still expect the same service and experience we used to get....on our last visit, we all ordered our favorite meals, myself and my brother ordered the tour of italy and found that there was a lack of food on the plate...the sauce didnt seem like it always used to be....service wise, the older woman who served us was more worried aboiut the 2 people beside us, who were done their meal already, and talking over glasses of water...the waitress needs to get her priorites straight.....over all, the food was OK but not as good as it used to be....the only way we will visit again is if an out of town relative requests it, just like old times
I had to send my lemonade back twice. Each time there was a bug in my glass. Waitress was rude about the floaty thing. She blamed me for spilling the left overs in the sack, when she was the one who backed it. Had to beg for bread and butter. Then had to beg for the check so we could leave. Toasted Ravioli is actually deep fat fried. Portions were adequate.
Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, possibly the worst meal I have ever paid money for. I ordered the mushroom risotto, and it was not only severely undercooked (like, crunching between my teeth) but there was no creaminess to it at all. It was basically half cooked rice in butter. The food my friends had was serviceable but not especially good.
This is the Soo- I remember the name since I was a child and the parking lot was always full. Good bless the owners who have not faltered in their standards. Was there for New years Eve- it felt like an event- # hours dining and great for us- by the way I heard the party went all night lol!
Visited for lunch today & I can't even describe the flavour! From salad to dessert, wow. Great service, with a sense of humour as well:) Very cozy & actually a lot larger inside than originally expected. The desserts were some of the best I have EVER tried in my life. So gooey & chocolatey...extremely decadent & rich.
Giovannis is by far my favorite restaurant in the whole wide world. I only get to go on special occasions but I adore it and take my time! They have the best italian cuisine I've EVER tasted! Not to mentoin they have a large variety of foods that are unavaliable at any other restaurant in the city! I recommend this, 5 star restaurant! Oh, the only downside is you need to make reservations.
we go on a regular basis, as my father is very picky and this is the only restaurant that is up to par for him. food is fantastic, never a bad meal EVER waitresses are great, maybe one or two that can be forgetful unreal to me that people make comments about the owner.. he greets us at the door, shows us to a table himself and stays to chat for 5-10 minutes, a fantastic man and is always the first to send over a drink for a special occasion.
I highly recommend this restaurant. Best italian food in town!
The food was very good, atmosphere great for a night out with friends and the service was great.Would go back again, and make sure this time I have reservations. This must be where everyone in the Sault eats on a Saturday night!!!!!!
Waitress was amazing! Soup was the best I've ever had! The drink had a great amount of alcohol and was full of taste. Bread was amazing as usual. Love the atmosphere!
My mushroom risotto was very much over-cooked. My hubsband's seafood plasta was better than mine, the mix grill was over done...
Waiters were slow and we had to wait 3 hours for our food.We will never be returning he again.
I have always ordered the chicken lasagna because it was so delicious, and full of mozzarella cheeze in the layers. I ordered it this time, and it was only chicken, sauce and pasta layered. There was not one speck of cheeze in it. It was not good to me at all. I will never order that again, and may not ever return to Giovannis that I used to love and brag about.
One of the BEST Italian places to dine while you are in Sault Ste. Marie! A great overall experience!
The service was great, and there were no problems with anything, and it was the best italian dining experience i have ever had. I wish there was one closer to my home in Wisconsin. The closest is in Milwaukee, WI.
Giovanni's was our choice for our Valentine's Day meal because of the delicious food and warm, cozy atmoshpere. Easily one of the best restaurants we have here in the Soo. Staff was very friendly and courteous. I highly recommend making reservations at Giovanni's for a terriffic dining experience.
Nice atmosphere setting, great food-moderately priced. Our particular waitress was not up our expectations but I would still recommend this restaurant for families, couples, and anyone that enjoys a good Italien restuarant. One of the nicer restaurants in Sault Ste. Marie.
