Was in business in Ottawa and wanted to check out some cool bars. Was told by the hostess in the Hotel that Pub Italia was a pretty good spot. Tried to find them in the phone book to make a reservations, but they had no ad. Just decided drive around little Italy and luckly found the place. My group showed up and was able to get a table no problem. Wasn't really impress by the food, but they do have a ton of beers on tap. If you like beer, this is the place to go.
This is not just a pub, that is inside the 'medieval abbey', but it also has a covered patio and a good italian menu. We found the food tasty and also filling !
Located in the heart of Little Italy’s restaurant row, Pub Italia announces itself from a block away with multiple beer signs out front, which shine bright in the night. The interior is made to look like an abbey, and there are bottles on display everywhere, as well as other beer memorabilia. Our server (a former Londoner, yeah!) was friendly and knew about the beers she was serving us. She also took the time to chat, which was nice. The beer selection was a large mix of Ontario micros on tap and in bottles, with a seemingly endless Belgian selection, including some harder to find bottles like Deus. On the down side, the pizza came missing the pizza sauce and our appetizer plate had things on it that were not listed on the menu, including two things that we didn’t even like, so that seemed like a waste. I’ll go back and give the food a try one more time when I’m in the area, but I’ll definitely return for the beer.
The atmoshpere is wonderful. Pasta is always swolen, sauce has no flavour. Pizza's are ok..... More of a place you would go to drink. The worst thing about it is the service, they definitly hire for looks not experience. I find a lot of people focus more on reviewing food and not not service. Service is a very important part of your experience. Would go back, but just for the beer!
It's hard to grade this place as a restaurant. It's a pub and you go there to drink. They have a huge beer selection at decent prices. The food selection is very limited. The pizza was over priced and really didn't have all to many toppings. My gf's sandwich was 80% bread and 20% meat and everything else. It was very dry and bland. Quite simply you should come here for a drink only, if you want to eat then go down the street to one of the many other restaurants on Preston
Great Food, great price and 300 or so beers to choose from, great atmosphre and personel. Definetly a place to go.
One of my favourite restaurants in Ottawa. Lots to choose from for food and beverages! Never a disappointment!
Great eats for the pub-faring afficionado. Great pizzas and salads although the mussel serving is a little small for the price. Service was wonderful and friendly. We`ve been there for quick dinners before a show and it was definitely good value for the money spent. We`ll be back! Try to sit in the monastery alcove during the warmer season. It`s outdoors but quieter than streetside.
This place is Beer Heaven on earth. They have some of the hardest to find beers in Ontario. They have all of the Trappist beers which are near impossible to find. Their muscles were especially tasty. I'm completely craving Pub Italia now, but I live 5 hours away from Ottawa. I can't wait to go back someday!

If you want a seat on this beautiful patio in the summer months, you had better get there early. This beautifully designed and decorated restaurant is located in the heart of Little Italy, and it offers a 'Beer Bible' of hundreds of different beers, separating them from the competition. The authentically prepared Italian dishes will ensure repeat visits.

Plopped in an old pew at Pub Italia, you’re surrounded by stained glass, arched windows, religious iconography, thuribles dangling from the ceiling. The theme continues when you’re handed the beer menu, piously titled “the Beer Bible.” You’ll find 13 Canadian drafts that include locals like Hog’s Back and a specially crafted ale from — where else? — Church Key in Campbellford. There’s also a grand range of Abbey and Trappist beers from Belgium, a couple of which are on tap, as well as bottled choices from other parts of the world. Hallelujah!

Choose from three varieties of nachos, including their regular tortilla chips with mozzarella, bruschetta salsa and black olives, their Chicken Nachos (all of the above, plus chicken) or their Irish Nachos, which are baked potato chips with mozzarella cheese, bruschetta salsa, jalapeño and sausage.
