CALL US FOR A FREE COURTESY CLASS! Founded in 2001, Toraguchi Martial Arts offers classes for all ages in traditional Goju Ryu Karate. Our program prides itself on functional self-defence while offering young students a supportive place to learn and develop as people. We set ourselves apart by being the only government recognized karate school in either Oakville or Burlington. We follow the strict standards of our NSO (National Sport Organization) Karate Canada, and follow the principles of the NCCP (National Coaching Certification Program). Our head instructor (Sensei) is also only one of only seven chartered professional coaches for karate in all of Ontario (ChPC). For those interested in the sport of karate, we also offer an Olympic style program for athletes that wish to enter into the competition field. As a values-based dojo, karate begins and ends with courtesy and respect. Your journey starts with us.

This identity was chosen for the dojo for its symbolism. Wind must always be moving, must always be changing and active, or it becomes stale and stagnant. Wind can be as ferocious as a hurricane or as gentle as a breeze. It is always changing with the environment but it never changes itself; it will always be wind. This symbolism perfectly describes the character of the dojo as we have grown exponentially from our humble beginnings. The concept of “new wind” is what we also want for our students; to adapt to circumstances and never believe that there is only one answer to every question.
