we walked out after being ignored by 3 waitress who were quite happy to serve people as they came in and were seated after us we waited tried to get there attention and still ignored no offer of a drink no what would you like they could clearly see menus left closed so we were read to order. a horrible experience l couldn't believe how upset l was after speaking to the manager l actually got really upset felt bad. l work in customer service so this for me was really a horrible experience
Always my go to place for a nice dinner and to have a good time. Very popular place, but my favourite place, friendly staff and amazing food! Just miss certain items off the menu as they keep changing it!
Good ambiance and great food. We liked it.
if you like horrible service and rude hostesses then this is the place for you, the food is ok but not worth the price.
The ladies went for lunch. The service was poor , slow and the waitress failed to tell us the soft drinks were not refillable until we placed a 3rd order. What restaurant today does not have refillable soft drinks? We wanted to substitute extra vegetables in place of the rice with the salmon entree which was already $21.95 .That would have been an additional $3.95 for one flowerette of cauliflower, broccoli and 2 beans. The food was okay but way overpriced for the portion, A pretty place with a nice view but poor value for your money . Will not return.
The location is great and probably going to this restaurant is a must for residents of the area. The dining area is not upscale, but one should not expect it to be. A lot of families come here and so it was rather noisy in the interior dining room. The food was very good. All three of us were very impressed with the quality and taste of our dishes (listed below). The only food complaint we have was with the Key Lime Pie. It lacked the sharp, tart key lime flavour needed to make it successful. Furthermore, for $6.99, one would expect real whipped cream instead of the blobs of synthetic white goop served on the side. Value-wise, this restaurant could be much better. Remember, the atmosphere screams casual dining. Just a few inexpensive add-ons would have completed the experience. For entrées in this price range, one would at least expect some kind of bread service with the meals. Fish and chips DO NOT include coleslaw. Why such a standard, inexpensive side dish is not included with F&C is beyond me. Finally, there is a $2.75 premium if you want to substitute french fries as you side with sandwiches. Crazy! I am not sure if I'll be back. The food was good, but as the title suggests, for the price you pay, it could be a better rounded dining experience.
I was apprehensive about going to this restaurant after reading the reviews here but we were invited as part of a party and really did not have a choice in the matter. Let's start with the positives. The views are quite impressive - the restaurant is on a pier jutting out into the harbour. Problem is we got there around 7 pm and by 8 pm you loose the view as the harbour is dark. The interior decore is not very upscale but is appropriate to the location (kind of like being in a boat house). The service was better than i expected after reading these reviews, but I'd rate it as adequate. Not great but not bad either. But a view only goes so far. First their polices - not necessarily atypical for this type of restaurant but still annoying. As we were a party of 10+ we had no choice but to get one bill which was annoying as I did not have enough cash on me and had to get more. Also, as we were a party of 10+ we had a mandatory 15% gratuity added to the bill. I really hate this. When this is the rule (oh and we were not informed of this ahead of time) the wait staff really don't have to work their hardest as they will get the tip anyhow. And speaking of wait staff, we had a table of about 20 people total and one server. Seemed a bit outnumbered to be honest. Okay - so now for the food. For the prices, the food is nowhere up to the standard it should be. Not even close in my opinion. $13.50 for a (moderate sized at best) plate of rubbery calamari? $12.50 for a tuna sandwich (no not a piece of tuna steak - I mean tuna and mayo on white bread). Okay so for our food. We had the calamari. As I said it was rubbery (yes I know squid is rubbery - but this was like chewing rubber bands). The breading was nice and crispy. The dip (which looked like thousand islands dressing) was surprisingly tasty. My wife had the one piece fish and chips. Okay so $14 for one piece of fish and some chips is a bit steep but - if it's good given the ambiance fine. But there is the problem. It was not good. The fish was underdone. The batter was spongy. The fries were room temperature. And the real kicker, we got a small plastic tube of tartar sauce (IE the kind with a peel off lid). Seriously? You call yourself a seafood restaurant and you cannot even fake making it look like you make your own tartar sauce? I ordered the Alaskan Halibut. The fish was cooked fairly well but the portion was small. The sauce was nothing to right home about. The rice was bland. I swear the vegetables (snap peas and carrots) were previously frozen. Overall it was okay but for $26 it was not even close to being a good value. Overall I was pretty disappointed. Given the other very good restaurants in the area I cannot see myself going back.
The food took an hour to get to us. Turns out our waitress never put our order in! The service is unfriendly and incompetent. But the food was good. Our meal came to $60 in total for 2 people, quite expensive. Maybe the food was so good because we were so hungry waiting almost an hour for it to get to us!
It took about an hour for us to get our food once we had ordered it. Our server never submitted our order, or she did it wrong somehow. She never checked up on it or inquired why our food was taking so long. She wasn't apologetic, and didn't seem to care. Nobody working there seems to be enjoying themselves. Don't come here if good service matters to you. The food quality was good, but the price expensive. There are plenty of other places to go besides this one. I wouldn't come here. Total experience was maybe a 2 out of 10.
The food was skimpy and poorly prepared. The shrimp seemed to have been boiled three days ago and frozen ($11 for 4). The oysters were fresh but quite small for the $3 each price.Overall, the prices were too high for the quality and quantity. Table and chairs were cheap plastic. Only redeeming feature is the view of the marina.
Not bad in terms of food, but nothing special either. expensive for what you get, and small portions. wine only comes by the glass or bottle and a big markup, no half-litres available. Our server was very nice, but overall, the food was okay, nothing special. it is nice to watch the water though. tables and chairs were cheap plastic and the inside could use a little updating. not sure I'll go again.
What a disappointment. For being so busy, the food was disgusting. My steak sandwich was maybe a 3 oz strip. It had to be the toughest steak sandwich I've ever encountered. I couldn't eat the ends of it. My friend had the rainbow trout and the whole plate looked like it had been microwaved. The rice was undercooked and the sauce was clearly bought prepared. Our service was decent, but failed to ask us how our meal was. The only upside was the pleasant hostess on our way out. Never returning again, there are much better spots in the area.
I've been going there for years, very consistent overall.
it was an alright place my friends kept on saying it was so amazing.. but unfortunately my friends have no idea what they are talking about because the food was not the best and the appitizers were soooooo greasy.. great view and atmosphere but not the place i would suggest to eat
what a wonderful spot, maybe the size makes it feel inpersonal. young servers do try hard to service their laege sections
My wife planned a surprise birthday party for me here. I had read this website when she told me she wanted to take me here for dinner and I told her no. She talked me into it though. Good thing too. Not only would our party of 20 friends have been confused but I would have missed out on a great restaurant. My wife spoke to the owners of the restaurant and they were very friendly and nice. The server was very attentive and friendly. The food arrived quickly and was absolutely amazing. People ordered everything from Lobster, to Fish and Chips, to Clam Chowder. Every person inour party was impressed with the food. If service is going to be slow then it will be when you have a party of 22 people. If the service is bad it will really show through with a large party. If the kitchen is slow, same thing. None of that happened to us and the restaurant was full. Do not be fooled by the bad reviews. Snug Harbour is a hidden gem. I have lived in Mississauga most of my life and I wish I had found this place sooner. My Sister and boyfriend suggested it to my wife because they know how much I like seafood. They had been 3 or 4 times before this and said that they were always impressed with everything.
Went for dinner because they have the best location in Mississauga. The appetizers were both deep-fried, but tasty. Our server was able to suggest some excellent entrees which my wife and I shared, and would order again. They brought out a desert tray with visual samples of their menu, very enticing! A reasonable wait (half hour for a seat on the patio) for a very busy place, but they do have a great view!
The view is great during a nice summer day. The food is not bad, but not great either. the thing that kills me about this place is how bad the service is. summer after summer we go to this place thinking that we'll give it another chance and the service always sucks. 10 min for someone to greet us, another 10 for the drinks to come and the food never comes. I don't what to suggest. i guess if you like the lake and want to seat by the water is good, just don't expect anything special.
Go for the view but not much more. We should have stopped after the oysters, they were great but you really don't have to do much when serving raw food. The fish from the fish and chips plate was terribly dried out..couldn't finish it, tasted too bad. My husband ordered the Mussels with White Wine and Garlic. The server accidentally spilled the mussel juice into the bread bowl, looked like bread soup...and actually asked if he should bring us another bowl...Duh!!!. The Mussels were over cooked and the shells weren't scrubbed. My water glass sat empty for 30min during the meal. My husband and i finished eating at the same time, a bus boy took his plates away but left mine. For a place that has so much potential management certainly doesn't step up to the plate. Instead of training the bunch of high school servers hired for the summer, they allow the wait staff to stroll around in over sized pants and extremely short mini skirts, unable to strike a smile or offer a menu suggestion. I'll be back for the view and the oysters, but that's all i'll bother spending at Snug Harbour.
The service was slow, food was okay, but small portions. Our waitress was very accomodating even though we changed our orders a few times.
