****Warning!!! why is every other review written by the same person?...don't believe their Hype!**** I went to Prince Albert's Dinner because of the show "You gotta eat here". I made the 1 and half hour drive to try the Famous WALLY Burger they featured on this show. Well I must say I was very VERY disappointed. It was nothing like what I saw on TV. the burger was half the size covered less than 3/4 of the bun it was thin and Dry very little bacon and just very underwhelming. I got the poutine as well. It was very poor attempt at poutine. Gravy seems as its from a pouch served on very little shredded cheese instead of chucks of cheese curds and some kind of homemade gravy. Oh yeah and the fries were over cooked. You can taste the lack of quality and lack of pride in preparation of their product. I strongly recommend you do not waste your money and go to this place. I felt that I had to write this because that place has gotten more business than it deserves because it was grossly misrepresented on that TV show and I had to say something.

We went here because we saw them featured on You Gotta Eat Here. The meal was horrible, the place was dirty, the service was HORRIBLE!
This London landmark is being tainted by rude, arrogant, hipster servers. I recently brought my three year-old for lunch. It was about 11:58 a.m. and our waiter wouldn't let us order lunch. He was a total d0uche bag and clearly didn't want us there. What a d0uche bag.
I could not believe the service at Prince Albert's Diner. The absolute first time I walked in there they were so incredibly rude to me' it bordered on racism. I noticed all the white diners were served immediately and when I asked a waiter to serve me he told me I was rude because I was on the phone. I was calling my boyfriend to inform him of where I was. The staff member came over to my table and informed that I was rude and proceeded to snatch my menu away from me and told me to get out. I have NEVER in my life experienced such unbelieveably rude service in the customer service industry. It was downright appalling!! I informed my boyfriend of what happened and he was shocked. At no time was I rude or inappropriate to staff as this happened just hours ago. I will never recommend Prince Albert's Diner to any colleagues or friends. I am completely disgusted with how rascist and bad their service was. You may or may not agree with my standpoint but I will definitely say that it was an unwelcoming experience in London, Ontario. . .I would have been better off visiting the Dominoes down the street! At least they are polite and kind to their potential consumers!
Great breakfast...cheap & good, but the waitress leaves something to be desired :(
After a few beers this is a great refueling stop. Classy retro style booths and chairs make this diner feel like you stepped back into time. The open chicken is a bonus as it is a relief to be assured your food is made fresh and to order. We order the Chicken Salsa Burrito and Spicy Chicken Burrito -- both with fries -- and both excellent. Perfect spice level and piping hot. The services was a little ho-hum but I'm sure she had been worked off her feet the whole night. An easy menu request (no sour cream) was followed to the tee and the portions were just right. We will be back!
This place is great anytime of the day! Everytimes ive gone in ive had a great mean and experiance. Also i have never had to wait for a table or long for my food. Delicious dirty spoon!
I can't understand the following this place has, sorry; must be an acquired taste. The decor is very retro and definitely cool. The location is fab being in the heart of Rihcmond Row. The washroom is nasty, even for a guy. They serve real milkshakes and they looked good. Their loaded perogies are good. I had the veggie burger and fries and it was ok at best. Go for the amosphere and nostalgia, I guess, but don't expect a memorable meal and you won't be disappointed.
Prince Al's is a favourite regular stop of mine. The menu is interesting, it has everything you would expect from a small dinner with some surprising twists. My personal favourite are the loaded perogies which are served with chili and bacon. Everything tastes fresh and well made. It is a small place and can feel a bit cramped when full but it is definitely worth it. They have a variety of great milkshakes and even have a liqour license. Which is surprising for a diner. Definitely a place you should check out
Prince Al's, as it is affectionately known, has probably the best atmosphere of any resaurant in London; how can you not love the look of the 50s diner? As well, the food is really really good, and the best part is that it's very cheap. The only down side to Prince Al's is that the service can be really slow and some of the waitresses are really slow. Also, beware: they do not take debit! There is a cash machine in the building but it's form a private company and you have to pay a service charge. But on the whole, great place eat.
Best diner food downtown. Open till 3 or 4 in the morning! You can't get better than this anywhere, anytime in London! The greek burrito is to die for!
I forgot how good the food was at this resturant. Not greasy, good sized portions, excellent prices and many choices to choose from. Bad thing: Too small and only one server. They should expand the resturant to make more room and have more servers. We waited awhile to order, and never got our bill so we just went up and paid. But I would definitly come back because the food is awesome! My friends ordered: mushroom and swiss burger with fries, banquet burger and rice, chicken empanda (spicy) with fries, and wally burger and fries (very different with peanut burger)
I go to this place a couple times a month. It's an awesome place to go in and get out of the cold, but also to go into in the summer to keep cool. I love the old-time-diner feel, and the guys who work there are nice and welcoming (although I've never had this woman that people keep speaking of, I've seen her before and I've never had a problem with her...if in deed this is the same woman). Food is prepared quickly and efficiently and is pretty tasty for diner food. You have to realize that diner food is diner food and it's not going to be gourmet, just fast. They have amazing milkshakes and you get like 2 and a half milkshakes for a really good price (and they're also mix-your-own). Amazing fries too and make sure to get a side of gravy because the gravy is spectacular. Some downfalls of the food are that they don't have pickles for burgers or soya sauce for the rice (although i always get fries anyways, they have amazing fries). They also need to have a juke box or something to add to the feel. Also, the bathrooms are gross, but just don't use them. Overall very impressed with this place and it's great that they're opened so late (closing "whenever we feel like it" as the sign says). One final point: Make sure to bring cash as they don't accept debit or credit, but they do have a debit machine that charges you 1.50 per transaction. Not really that big a deal since they don't expect tips there. Oh yeah...and order a chocolate, cappuccino, mint milkshake...sounds funny but it's seriously the best one they have (tastes better than plane chocolate mint)
I always come here usually whenever I'm in London. It's cheap, it's tasty, filling, good service... a whole list. Anyone who's commented on this thing will tell you best milkshakes in London, and an extra bang for your buck for the amount you get. As my friend before has noted, the gravy is great, but they really do need pickles on their really tasty hamburgers... pickles are a must. Great place to visit day or night, but I would avoid the after bar crowd unless you like waiting in a line outside for a table. I don't think I personally know a single person who dislikes eating at this place.
It was GREAT!! The best bacon cheese burger I have ever had!! THE BEST!!!! I loved it. I was a lil freaked out when I read the iteam on the menu, but just had to try. Glad I did. It was Awsome!
Prince Als has amazing milkshakes and good food, a bit plain and predictable, nothing fancy, but the flavor of every menu item always impresses me. their perogies are amazing as well! For the people who said they didn't get good service or were being treated rudely for ordering just drinks... You have to realize that it's a small diner with very limited seating, so they need to make a profit off every single table. You're in there taking up valuable space and spending $4 on a beer when they could have 4 people there all having meals and make $50 off that table. It's all relative and Prince Als is not a place you go to drink at.
My friends and I come here all the time, its cheap, very fast and a great place to just sit and hang out. I agree with the previous review that the day manager is very rude, very unattentive to the customers and very abrasive. The night crew are amazing! Very fast, friendly and obviously the backbone of the place. Though it is greasy diner food..thats what it is. My only complaint is that the menu is absolutely all over the board..there is greek, jerk chicken, american food, perogies, everything! The menu is huge..I would prefer that they stick to traditional diner food. That is where their success lies. A great quick place to go anytime of day. Milkshakes are delicious!
I have been going to the Diner since about 1995. I LOVE this place. The server's are great & the food is consistently good. My only critique is the day manager who can be rude, I know she is probably part owner, but that doesn't mean that you can leave your professionalism at the door. I have seen her treat some customer's rudely but NOTHING FOOD RELATED AS IT'S GREAT FOOD.
the food is always great, large portions, very reasonable price, relaxed old time atmosphere. been there many times and plan for more. just need more seats but that would spoil the diner atmosphere.
