Terrible service, mediocre food. Told lunch was $13.99 then charged us $20.99 and denied what we were told. Had to place order three times before food came. Never go back

Great everything!

I have been living here for just a month and really wanted to see what Guelph had to offer with japanese cuisine! Many of my friends suggested that I try w sushi so I decided to go with one of my girlfriends that was a returning customer. We arrived for dinner and was greeted with the most kind and helpful waitress ever, we were seated and brought drinks. Our waitress was very helpful, her English was okay, but there was a server there who had perfect English so communication was not a problem. The place was pretty full and busy but not with large groups so the place wasnt loud. The food was very good and the rice was warm and moist, which means they just cooked it. I had a lot to eat and would definitely recommend their sweet shrimp banana roll and the guelph roll, they were both fabulous! Everything was great and I will definitely be a returning customer, and recommending to my friends

Rude Service - Will Not Return

I will never visit this restaurant again - there are many other options for sushi around Guelph that I'm sure are better than W Sushi. We went for a birthday party and needless to say it sure ruined the birthday. The service (from what we assume was the manager or owner) was slow and she was extremely RUDE! For the record every other server was nice, friendly and helpful. The owner or manager didn't bring us everything we ordered (said to eat what we could and to order more later if we wanted). I'm sorry but if you go to an all-you-can-eat, you expect to eat all you can eat. When we ended up ordering the rest of what we had originally ordered they didn't bring it all. When we wanted to order more the server looked the other way and took about 15 minutes to come to our table. The food was alright, nothing special though. When we told the owner or manager there was a birthday and inquired about the birthday gift, she quickly stated it must be ONE BILL (cannot do one bill with separate credit card payments - that costs W Sushi too much) and didn't even bother wishing the birthday girl a Happy Birthday. We were all disgusted with how we were treated. It felt like we were an inconvenience even though we were customers supporting their establishment. The owner or manager didn't make eye contact or say "thank you" when she left the bills or when anyone was paying. That's not the way to treat guests in my opinion. We had a friend join us who did not eat. She was scolded for not telling the staff this beforehand when she actually did tell them when she walked in. I can say that if someone asks me to recommend a Sushi Restaurant, I will not be recommending W Sushi!

Rudest Service EVER!

I have been to W sushi a few times with my mom, and a friend, and every time I have gone the owner has been SOOOO rude. The owner and staff act as if you are a burden, and when you order items off the menu, the employees respond with rude 'yeps' per item you say. They hardly refill your drink, and if they see you pick up the menu they look the other way. The food is pretty good to say the least, if only the service was up to par. I've heard some absolute horror stories through other friends about the lady who is the owner and a few of the employees at this restaurant and their horrible experience. The reviews nail it completely... if you're planning on impressing someone ..don't take them here. Not for a first date, not for an anniversary, not for a birthday. Unless you are willing to put up with complete rudeness, just do not go here.

DON'T EAT HERE!! We have been to many sushi restaraunts and this is by far the most expensive and worse one we have ever tried. Absolutely the worst service ever! We were given 3 menus for 6 people. Drinks (pop) are not included in the all inclusive price! I asked for another menu and the waiter was reluctant to give me one. The sushi was a huge ball of hot rice with a very thin piece of salmon/tuna. We could barely fit it in our mouths so we cut half of the rice away. The waitress (I think it was the manager) came over and was very rude to us saying that we were wasting so much rice. She went on and on and talked to us as if we were children. Basically they are trying to fill you up with all that rice. The fried "seafood" udon had one really tiny piece of shrimp and 2 really tiny pieces of mussel (all noodles). I mentioned the lack of seafood and the waitress said that is her style and she doesn't want to waste seafood if people don't end up liking it. Didn't make any sense to us. The fried chicken udon had maybe 5 tiny pieces of chicken (all noodle). All of the rolls we ordered were very small. Calamari was burnt, Chicken Tao, chicken curry, onion rings were overcooked, One person in our group does not eat fish and was finished eating before the rest of us. She asked the waitress for fried banana and a bowl of vanilla ice cream. The waitress was extremely rude and told her that she couldn't have dessert until everyone else was ready to order dessert. We tried to explain that our friend did not eat fish and the rest of us were still ordering more food. It was 10 minutes before she got it and the banana slice was the size of a toonie and the ice cream looked like 1 tablespoon. One person had a beer and when he finished he asked "her" for a coke. She came back with the coke and walked away. Our friend called her over and asked for a glass, "she" again was very rude and said "you have a glass", referring to his glass that he used for his beer!!! No one came to ask us if we wanted to reorder or if we wanted refills on our drinks, we had to call them over all the time. Our table was never cleared off during our meal. Horrible experience!!!

HORRIBLE SERVICE

I honestly love sushi and I have never been treated in such a rude way before!! The waitresses are just plain RUDE! Everyone at the table had their food and I was the last one to be served... the waitress comes with the food and just chucks it at the edge of table... and I was sitting in the corner!... the people who work there are just horrible and the food isn't that great! A friend of mine went there a few days later and said she saw a MOUSE in the washroom EWWW! I will never EVER go back back to this dirty restaurant... and I did read some of the reviews where customers had their food served in dirty plates... yep had that happen as well.. DISGUSTING PLACE

Not Great

I love Sushi, my husband is a sushi snob and does not like all you can eat, but love it. I have been to a few of the all you can eat places in town, I frequent and love Hockey and Samura. A friend took us to W Sushi and it was very different from what we are used to. The service was slow and we didn'g get things that we ordered. But that is fine because we would have run out of time anyways. Not that we were in a hurry, but there is a time limit! The food was pretty good and it was nice to try a few new things. But I can't handle the stress of the timelimit when the staff is so slow, I would be afraid to go when it is busy. So we won't be going back. Pros- Clean Good food Cons- Slow Bad Service

Wow. Just... wow...

Let me just front with you right now: I just made an account so that I could write a little something. I've been to W a few times since it opened. The first few visits were great (service, quality, etc.). I'm disappointed to say, however, that the previous reviews for this restaurant nail it completely. I was excited to take a friend from out of town here for dinner as I had not been here for a while. Not only was the service terrible (there was some lack of understanding what we wanted even when pointing at the menu and I wasn't too pleased at how we were treated in general), however, we were blatantly ignored for 20 minutes between each ordering. It also seemed to take the same amount of time to get a second or third refill on tea. The pieces we did receive were fairly standard. I felt like a few of the cuts of meat were rather warm. The red snapper (sashimi) in particular simply tasted of water. The salmon (sashimi) left something to be desired. I feel as though these things were better in the past. I have to give them props for the grilled eggplant, though. It was very tasty. Overall, I left the restaurant extremely dissatisfied and embarassed that I had selected that place over another venue. I did not feel as though we were treated properly and would say that some interactions with the staff left quite a lot to be desired. I think for the time being, I'll stick to fish of a cooked variety...

BAD!

My friend and I went to W for lunch The service was bad and the attitude of the employees is terrible. The service is slow, the rice was warm and the sushi is average. End of the meal ordered ice cream, waited 10 minutes. Upon cashing out I ask if I could take it to go since it hadn't arrived at the table yet, she said I had to stand there and eat it. Brought out in a bowl set it at the cash register. Needless to say I wasn't about to eat my ice cream while standing there. When I went to pay cash, she handed me small change. I asked for a 5.00 bill instead and she said "your price doesn't include tip!" I had change that I already prepared to hand to her. Never had a restaurant make me feel like I was wasting their time. Will NEVER go back.

Best Sushi. Terrible service

Food is great here. But the service is pretty bad. Don't even remember being greeted at the door just shown to the table. Took over 10 min for a server to come to the table. The server had a very bad attitude. She was short and couldn't care less. The food on the other hand is very good.

Worst service and they don't care!

This is the 3rd and final strike for this place. My wife and were there at 7pm on Oct 23 and seated after about 5 minutes. It was busy so that was pretty good. From that point we were left sitting for 15 minutes before I finally went to the counter to ask to be served. The "Hostess" came over and took our order and some tea showed up about 5 minutes later. Long story short, after trying to pace our order 3 times, and being to "so sorry, place very busy", we got up and left. This is the 3rd time in a row we have received lousy service here. What a shame as the food is actually pretty decent. There are enough Sushi places in the area that we can get food just as good without the aggravation. So long W Sushi!

Excellent Food, Service, Price

Wsushi is on par with all the best Japanese restaurants I have eaten at the USA and Canada over the last 40 years. First class food, great pricing (all you can eat), friendly prompt service....everything you would expect from a family owned and operated restaurant. I have eaten at Wsushi at least 12 times and recommend it to friends all the time. I also use there Take Out on their website...handy.

Great food, terrible service

My first experience here was for my birthday. We had 12 friends and we called in a reservation 2 days before. We arrived on time but some of our friends were coming from far away and were 15 mins late. In that time, the staff started harassing us about giving up the table! We were slightly upset. Luckily the rest of our party arrived just in time. We proceeded to order but again, staff wanted us to order in small groups instead of ordering for the whole table, which is not how we have done it before. Once we got that settled, we dug in. Lots of choice on the menu, tons of sushi, maki and other treats. We will come here again for the amazing food, but beware the bad service!

Won't go back there...

My family went here for dinner. There were five of us when we arrived and sat down. We ordered from the all you can eat menu, but before the food came my son left with my grandson to go to the park since he didn't want to eat. The waitress wrote down 5 people, but we didn't notice that until we got the bill. They then charged us for 5 all you can eat dinners. We said there were only 4 of us, one of us left and didn't come back. The waitress said that we were 5 and that was the rule. The manager said we had to pay the full amount for 5 people. But there were only 4 of us eating, we said. They would not back down. We won't be going back there. We've done a similar thing at Hockey Sushi because the 15-month old baby can't sit for that long and it's never been an issue there. Terrible end to the night.

enjoyable

We stopped in for the $13 lunch. I haven't had a lot of sushi, so I can't offer comparisons. For us, however, the experience and the value were outstanding, and the food was very good. The service was very prompt, and the waitress was helpful. We were particularly impressed with presentation of the "chinese" items (the flipside of the menu is for non-sushi eaters - soups, noodles, rice, vegetables, etc.). A great place for people to expand their palates if they're not sure about sushi yet, or have a limited exposure to it (which was all of us); also a great place to bring a group with varying tastes. Ambiance was warm in a modern way.

Amazing food interns of sushi buffet quality, i visited all sushi buffet in Guelph and this one i would say is the best among all. Lots of new stuff which aren't offer in other restaurants in Guelph. Beef Sashimi and salmon tataki is a MUST, they only let you order once for those 2, so order a lot otherwise u will regret and have to come back for it again ( which is why i need to visit it again). The restaurant is new, love the setting and the place looks very decent with great atmosphere. We didn't need much help because we know what we want, but the waiter/waitress comes over once in a while and offer any help if needed. Only thing is, few of our order never came, and dessert order keep getting mess up, so make sure you make it clear to the waiter when u order. Other than that, everything is great and definitely will recommend to my friends and revisit
