We were lucky to table at around 10pm on a Friday night after watching a movie across the street. We just had a couple of beers and nachos to satisfy a late night craving. The nachos were ok, at least the cheese was layered. Best with salsa, sour cream and guacamole. Nothing about the place stood out. There is outside patio along one side of the restaurant but would think being on such a busy corner not that quiet.

As far as pubs go, the food here isn't bad. I know that isn't saying much, but when you go to a pub for dinner you really shouldn't ever expect a gourmet meal. Make sure to try the fish & chips, which as far as I can tell are the house specialty.

Cozy pubs for a low-key night out in Vancouver

The wide array of British and Irish beers, dark interior, and penchant for debauched merriment, make The Winking Judge one of the most authentic pub experiences in the city. Since 2008, the bar has welcomed after-work commuters, cinema goers and dating couples with open arms and taps. While the menu is varied – as you would expect from a pub in such a multicultural city – there are enough pies and English chips on offer that, if you try, you’ll feel like you’re in a village local in the Home Counties.
