“I'm not good at thinking about nothing” is perhaps the most common utterance by meditation newbies, but this idea is one of many misconceptions about the practice. Regina Kaiser, owner, master instructor and therapist of Port Moody's Veracis Meditation & Wellness Centre can help you understand meditation. It's not about sitting still with a blank mind; rather, it's a peaceful, yet active process.
"There are many types of meditation, but the deeply relaxing kind takes you on a visual journey," explains Regina. "We focus on bringing you into the body, nurturing from within to bring you peace and calm, and from that point you have a greater awareness of who you are from the inside out."
Regina created a certified program in the late '90s simply because there was no standardization in the study of meditation. She developed the program to teach people how to teach meditation and opened Veracis in 2000, its practice a mindful approach to wellness and one of the first non-religious meditation centres in the Lower Mainland with a spiritual healing focus.
