For children, birthdays are about magic, fun, excitement and adventure. Chelsea Scantland knew she could combine all of those factors into one happy birthday package with Bippity Boppity Birthdays. Her company delivers real live princesses to awestruck girls and boys.

Chelsea acknowledges that the current concept is far different from its origins. “It wasn’t supposed to be a big business when I started; it was just very small at first,” she says. “We just did a couple parties for more people we knew and then word travelled around pretty fast.”

She chalks up her success partly to having a novel service that nobody else was offering, but mostly to how charming and entrancing having a princess at a party can be. “It’s just a little something extra that I think is magical,” she says. “I know I would have loved to have a princess at my party.”

And while children are transported to a world of make-believe-meets-reality, the parents are having just as good of a time. “I get parents all the time that call and say they’ve never heard of something like this,” Chelsea says. “And then after the parties parents say how easy it was because they could just sit back and talk with the other moms.”
