    My first choice

I can be confident that the owner really loves animals and will care for my dogs like her own. She does their grooming as well and always lets me know if something is wrong (like a sore I hadn't noticed). Big plus is the dogs are walked twice a day which some kennels don't do.

In a pinch, but never again

Pros: Located on a single access quiet road with little traffic; always a piece of mind. Cost is reasonable, at just under $20 for the night, pick-up is before 11am. The owner/operator certainly loves animals, and carries an alpha personality to help her handle any animal. Cons: Walks: Consists of the length of driveway, passing the dilapidated tractors, boats and other farming equipment, and returning back to the compound; about 300-400 meter round trip. Compound: As this is a very mechanical, compact, concrete and steel assembly line of dog kennels adorned with power tools and other farming supplies. The dogs are treated with the visitations of upto a dozen cats roaming freely about the building, I suspect all belonging to the owner. I believe these to be 'barn cats' so is best to have your dog up to date with an anti-flea treatment. If you enjoy the aroma of the animal shelter, you'll be reminded of the conditions you rescued your dog from. If anything, when picking up your fur-baby in the morning, they will be more than delighted to see you. Office area: Cleaner than the rest of the building, which isn't a challenge. Again, adorned with six cats, the owner halted paper work to find a missing cat. The mother cat was reported as feral, her five kittens (all were eventually accounted for) seemed pleasant though pestering when climbing over the counter as we filled in our paper work. Staff: All children need chores and I support this entirely. However her daughters didn't have the same work ethic I expect from an hourly wage employee. I would prefer someone handling our dog to show up in respectable work attire. Booty shorts are nice, but I draw the line at working in your pajamas. Conclusion: While it was a long weekend, and we had tried booking more than a week in advance, we were lucky to get a place for our dog. That said, we thanked the owner for contacting us with her last minute opening, but our patronage will be taken elsewhere from now on.
